Jax Batten reports on a tough week for the Ladies sides………..
None of the Ladies teams registered points this weekend (07/11) with the closest match being fought out at Beaconsfield between the 2’s and Gerrards Cross. Despite probably 60% (or more) of the possession in the first half, the 2’s found themselves 3 down at half time, with the Cross keeper having hardly a shot to save other than from short corners. The side seemed to lack the cutting edge of finishing with a number of chances going just wide of the far post or short corners just missing the top of the back board - but to take a lot of positives from the game, the build up play and one-two passing especially down the right was much improved from previous weeks. Carol Scearce moved out of her emergency left back position back into midfield and along with Charlotte Watt, playing in her debut game for the 2’s, made some crucial tackles and set up some opportunities that had been lacking in previous weeks.
The second half was a much better P&R result with the team piling on the pressure and scoring 2 late goals from Chick and Carol in the final 10 minutes of the game - Laura Hodder, Charlotte and Bridget all combining down the right to send in some tasty crosses - but the game finished 2 minutes too soon with the visitors 3-2 down. Good signs for this coming weekend though on home (astro)turf
The 1’s continue to suffer in Prem 1 with Rover Oxford scoring 5 past them with no reply. Despite brave efforts throughout the side the Ladies are now 3 points adrift at the bottom but have the chance to get back into the race when they take on Reading 2A’s this weekend at Sonning Lane. Reading are only 1 win better off that P&R and this match is the game that must be won to keep the ladies close to the rest of the pack.
The 3’s suffered their 2nd defeat in a row losing 6-2 against 2nd placed Oxford Hawks. The 3’s lie in 3rd place and take on mid-table Abingdon this weekend to get back to winning ways. Names of the goalscorers for the 3’s are unknown but will be updated as soon as we know them!
All 3 teams look forward to better luck (and results) this Sunday.

Ladies 3s Scorers
Not sure but I think it might have been Charlie Rixon & Barbie?
Fiona should get an assist for a fabulous run up the right wing for the 2nd goal and Barbie missed a sitter in the 1st half. As has been the case several times this season, the scoreline (if not the result) flattered the opposition
