Ladies 2’s put survival in their own hands

The Ladies 2’s staged a dramatic 1-0 win over Bicester to give themselves a chance of survival in Div 2 on Saturday.  P&R had most of the chances throughout the match, but only scored after a goalmouth scramble in the 2nd half - Esme Wallace was on hand to nudge the ball over the line (with a bit of help from a Bicester defender).

The win leaves P&R in 11th place with equal points but worse goal difference to Gerrards Cross who have completed their games in 10th.  With 1 game left to play for P&R a draw will secure them 10th spot and, barring any league restructure, save them from relegation.

The 3’s dropped points in their game against Sonning Vets, with a 1-1 draw.  Rhian Evans scored the equalising goal with 1 minute left on the clock to deny the Vets a win and get a valuable point for P&R.  The 3’s are secure in 3rd and will look forward to really attacking for promotion next season after a year of consolidation in Div 4.

The 1’s difficult season is nearly finished and they suffered a 3-0 defeat at Amersham and Chalfont - improving on their 4-0 defeat earlier in the season.  The 1’s are relegated to Prem 2 for next season but have the summer to bring on some more Juniors to help bolster the squad.  They also need to get back to a winning mentality after facing such a difficult season and hopefully the Summer League will give them that chance.

The final 2’s league game is this Saturday (17 April) - Away to Wycombe at Cressex - PB 10am.
