Goal scorers: Amal Sharma and Paul Earwaker

This was a game that Phoenix controlled from the start, building attacks down the flanks and penetrating the Wokingham defence with incisive runs. Trying to spoil the party, the Wokingham keeper was on top form and put on a terrific display of shot stopping, diving every which way to frustrate the Phoenix forwards.
The breakthrough came with the last action of the first half, Cornelius had his eyebrow split with a nasty deflection and Amal tucked away the resulting short corner.
The second half was an exercise in maintaining concentration, as a second goal was hard to find. Eventually some good work at the top of the D from debutant Phil, set Paul up with an easy finish on the post.
Two wins in a row and confidence is high in the team!

Goal scorers: Charlie Whitehouse (5), Tony Jagdev, Neil Haggis and Fergus Harradence

This was a crunch game for both teams - a real 6 pointer - with the loser staring at relegation. The first 20 minutes of the game was end-to-end, with Phoenix attacking hard, but Chiswick threatening to counter through a midfield breakaway at every dispossesion. Chiswick's forwards were unable to find the goal though and Phoenix soon had them rocking back on their heels with a well taken goal (Whitehouse) and a penalty flick (Jagdev). The second half looked like it might be a familiar tale of missed chances for 10 minutes until the pressure began to tell on Chiswick and they began to leak goals like a sieve, with Whitehouse scoring enough goals to put a large dent in his bank balance. Even Neil Haggis got in on the action with the softest of reverse flicks into an unguarded net. A late rally from Chiswick failed to get anywhere as they lacked the pace to trouble the Phoenix defence. The Phoenix lads walked away from the match with a job very well done!
